Missoula after dark

A small, hand-made page for evenings in Missoula, Montana. Each part gives a few plain facts, then links to the venues and to MissoulaTonight.

Tonight

One list holds the shows, dances, game nights and talks for today and tonight. It refreshes twice a day, around 5 am and 4 pm Mountain time. A show that is announced in the morning usually shows up by the afternoon refresh.

You can cut the list down by kind: music, performance, game nights, dance, talks and learning, or community. Each entry gives the start time and the place, and the price when one is listed.

To plan ahead, see what is on this weekend in Missoula. That list runs from Friday to Sunday and has the same filters.

The listings come from public websites, Facebook and Instagram accounts, ticket pages and community calendars, and each event page links its sources. When a venue cancels or moves a show, the listing is marked as soon as the sources show the change. One short page tells how the listings are made, and what the site leaves out.

Food trucks

The trucks move from day to day, and many of them park outside taprooms. One truck can be at Draught Works on Toole Avenue one night and at Great Burn Brewing the next. Others park at OddPitch Brewing on West Kent or at the KettleHouse taphouse on Myrtle Street. Check before you walk over.

The bigger rooms

The Badlander is part of the bar complex in the old Palace building at 208 Ryman. It has DJ nights, karaoke and rock shows. Two nights come back each week. Kettlehouse Karaoke is on Wednesdays at 8 pm, with no cover. On Saturdays at 10 pm, DJ Kris Moon runs a dance party. Both nights are 21+.

The Wilma is a 1921 theater on the Clark Fork, at 131 S Higgins Ave. Billy Simons built it and named it for his wife, the light opera singer Edna Wilma. It was renovated in 2015, and it is the big indoor room for touring acts from across the country.

The Top Hat Lounge is at 134 W Front St and has room for 550 people. It has been on Front Street for more than fifty years and was renovated in 2013. Touring acts and local bills share its calendar, and it has a full kitchen.

The outdoor season

KettleHouse Amphitheater is an outdoor stage on the Blackfoot River in Bonner, at 605 Cold Smoke Lane. It opened in 2017 and has room for about 4,000 people, with summer touring shows. It is quiet for now, but two 2027 dates are up already: Remi Wolf on May 19 and Leon Bridges on August 21.

For next summer: shows are all ages, but anyone under 16 needs a parent or guardian there. Bring a physical ID, because digital IDs are not accepted. Bring a clear bag or a small clutch. Concerts go on rain or shine, and there is no re-entry.

Groove Shuttles leave from the Top Hat lot on Front Street, starting one hour before doors. This fall the round trip is $15. Parking at the venue is card only, and the lots can sell out.
